Go, Spencer go!

One of my good friends from the hospital RX is doing an amazing feat. Spencer Klaassen is going to ride his bike the entire route of the Pony Express riders. From Sacramento, CA to good ol St. Joe. He is taking 14 days to complete this task. It all starts today Aug 24th.

I've known Spencer ever since I started in Rx. He worked with me during my good old days at Heartland West. I remember him talking about this ride back then. He is a great guy, a great friend and I can't wait to see his complete this awesome task. Spencer introduced me to Clutch back in the day. He took me to my first Clutch show in Omaha, since then I've been hooked. I've tried repay the favor by going to a Clutch show but the timing is always off.

If anyone can complete this trip it is Spencer. He rides his bike everywhere I can think of. It isn't anything for him to jump on a bike on a saturday and ride 300 miles just for fun. Here are a few websites about Spencer's feat and a GPS locator to track his progress. He will also be blogging as he goes. Please take some time and check it out.

Cool twist on your faves?

Rick found this website that looks at all the popular movies and puts a funny, sarcastic look at the script, plot, dialogue, and acting. I was laughing out loud for all the ones I read. And they are all my favorite movies. They guy really has a great writing sense and a funny look at movies. Check it out and look in the archives for your favorites.

Lawn mower woes.

So I finally got my riding lawn mower working a few weeks ago. I was excited because I finally got the damn thing running and now I can use it to sit my lazy ass on in the dog days of summer. Well scratch that! I'm mowing along and STOP! It is running, the blades are turning, I didn't pop out of gear. All I can figure is that the mower is so old and outdated that the tranny seized up. Well great, so I'll have to push mow it now. So I push the rider UP the alley (of course it dies at the bottom of the hill, that is fate right?) put it back in the yard. Pull out the push mower and it takes forever to start and when it does start it sounds like it barely has any throttle to it. So I'm thinking this isn't the day to mow the lawn. So I check the air filter and it is NASTY, I mean bad nasty. So I couldn't go get a new one because I had drank a beer (yes pick yourselves up, after the rider incident I needed a drink) and our rule is you drink you don't drive, not matter how little. So I decided to clean out the air filter. After washing it out(which wasn't the best idea) I finally got it started again. Sounded about the same but what the hell it was cutting grass. So after dying from the heat I got the lawn done. Got it all put away and then remembered I forgot to weed eat! F it, it will wait!

The next level.

Is higher than the first level.

R.I.P. Scott

NHRA drag racing lost another champion yesterday. Scott Kalitta died yesterday when his funny car he was driving exploded during a qualifying run. This the second time NHRA has lost one of their own in a little over a year. Eric Medlen died last March due to severe head trauma. Please take time to remember Scott and Eric and their families. They race for the fans, but shouldn't have give up their lives for us. R.I.P. Scott.

Theory of a Deadman-Scars and Souvenirs.

I had heard of Theory of a Deadman before but never listened to them really. I didn't even know they had 3 albums out already. They have been getting a lot of airplay on 98.9 due to them headlining the 2nd stage at RockFest. I love the song So Happy and they played it a lot. Then the song Bad Girlfriend started playing and I knew I had to check this album out. I was not let down. Wow what a great band and sound. They kinda have a Daughtry sound, but w/o American Idol to help them sell records. That isn't a knock against them. They sound like Daughtry, but more manly and rock. I like just about every song on the album so far and don't really have any I can't stand or skip. I Hate My Life is kinda a funny song and has an aspect or to that I can compare with(work). By The Way, Got It Made, and Not Meant To Be are a few more that I like. TOAD is a great band and needs more exposure so go check them out, you won't be disapointed.

Seether-Finding Beauty in Negative spaces.

I love Seether and have loved their music since hearing Fine Again over and over on Madden 2003. Everytime I hear Fine Again I think of playing Madden. I bought their CD Karma and Effect when it came out and loved it. This album is no exception. Once again following the 2 song rule. Fake It and Rise Above This got a lot of air play. I was hooked after hearing both of these songs. I have listened to this album over and over since buying it. It is actually in my truck right now. Songs I like off this album are Breakdown, FMLYHM (goggle that =D), No Jesus Christ(not what you think), Walk Away From the Sun, and Eyes Of The Devil. Hell I just about like them all. They all that awesome Seether sound. If you are a Seether fan grab it and listen to it over and over. If you aren't a Seether fan then you should become one! =)

Foo Fighters-Echoes,Silence,Patience, and Grace a review.

This is my first album review so take it easy on me.

I have always liked the Foo Fighters music and their new album is growing on me. It is one of those that I have to listen to a few times to really like it. I heard The Pretender and Long Road To Ruin on 98.9 being played a lot. I liked both of those songs and my rule is I don't buy a cd unless it has atleast 2 songs I like. This album seems a bit more mellow that I remember Foo Fighters being. I like the songs Let It Die and Come Alive. They have that Foo Fighters/Dave Grohl screaming/sound that I like. One thing I did notice is that a lot of the songs on the album they repeat the lyrics, and they repeat them a lot. In each song you wonder how many more times you can hear COME ALIVE, COME ALIVE, COME ALIVE. Or let it die, etc. I like the album and it is growing on me the more I listen to it. Couple songs are a bit slower than I like my music, but you need a break from the thrashing every once in awhile. If you like the Foo Fighters I say give it a spin. If not I say give it a spin anyway.

21 Jones

When Julius Jones was drafted by the Cowboys a few years ago I thought he would be around for awhile and may be the next Emmit(yeah right). Well he didn't do as expected and Marion "The Barbarian" Barber didn't help him any so he got signed by Seattle. Well so what do I do with this 21 Jones jersey? Here comes Pacman Jones. I see on ESPN that he is wearing the 21 and his last name is Jones to! Woo Hoo I don't have to sell the jersey after all! Thanks Cowboys for signing another trouble maker to our squad!

HELP!

How do you add your friends blogs to your site?

Why can't you type?

Well I did the unthinkable today. I attempted to cut off my finger with a pair of electric hedge trimmers. I was cutting some sapplings and it went thru the sappling and my left index finger. I ran to the front door and pounded until Cara came. Let her take a look then it was off to ER we went. Luckily she thought to call our Dr. on the way and he got us in. The pain was intense as hell and I barely kept from passing out while getting there and when we got there. After they gave me a ring block I felt nothing and he sewed me up. Took xrays just to make sure I didn't hit bone. Luckily all my tendons and bone didn't get hit. If they did then I'd be in surgery getting repaired.

Funny thing was while I was cutting the sapplings I was thinking if this can cut branches that thick then it can surely cut through a fin.....that was about the time it got me. At least I'm alive and didn't cut it completely off or do worse damage.

Brad

p.s. Damn it is hard to type w/o your left index finger!!!

More to come

Well I set this up because 2 of my best friends are on it and I wanted to be in the loop. I'll blog more once my finger stops hurting like a mfer and I can type!
